As an individual, you will contribute 10 items and curate 10 items. As a group, you will create 1 exhibit.
Curation Checklist:
- Your group will divide your items up so that each person will curate 10 items that another student created. How you divide those is up to you!
- You will add your name in the metadata as the curator, so I will see which ones you curated.
- Checklist located here — note this is super expansive and much of this will not be applicable to every item you're curating.
- When you submit an item include DO NOT CURATE in the title; you'll remove this when you're done curating the item.
Contribution Checklist:
Submit these items via the JOTPY archive submission form. Be sure to Proofread before submitting. I recommend planning these items in a word/google doc so that you have the text saved in case anything goes wrong in the submission process.
- Two items you contribute must include oral histories (audio or video).
- Each must be at least 15 minutes minimum.
- Each must include a proofread/edited transcript (I recommend using Otter.ai to produce a transcript draft that then you can edit). You MUST edit this so that it's a clean transcript.
- You can record these with zoom or if you're in the same place as your interviewee, you can record this as an audio or video file with your phone. These should include an audio or video file as well as a .txt and .pdf copy of your transcript
- Please also have your interviewee fill out this consent form.

- At least five must be substantive entries which include more than a paragraph of descriptive text included.
- All items must include thorough, careful metadata as best as you can provide.
- You may include most any type of artifact that reflects upon what life is like for students, staff, faculty or other members of the St. Mary's community during 2020-2021. Remember that this is broadly defined — this can also include things like your family life, work, or non-school specific ideas.
- Try to include a variety of types of items (photos, video, audio, emails/official documents, social media posts, etc.)
Exhibit:
Your group will have a total of approx. 10 items to work with per group member - then I'd like you to curate an exhibit with a selection of those items. You might think ahead of time to ensure that you have enough items that fit together.
Submission Tips:
- Tags: don't actually have to be one word, lowercase unless proper nouns, only use a hashtag if it's a common hashtag; always include #coveryourfangs and HS6301
- Type of Item: should just be a single word or phrase (e.g. still image or photograph, oral history, screenshot). Further description can go in the description area.
- Description: Don't be afraid to make this personal - explain why this is important to you. Describe the item but tell your story too! What's the significance of this? Make sure to give background context - how did things used to be? This should be at least a paragraph
